💃🏻 Women 35+ Drive Micro-Drama Boom

At the Series Mania forum in Lille, research from Digital i revealed the phenomenal success of micro-dramas on YouTube. In 2025, women over 35 emerged as the format’s primary drivers.

Data analysis from popular apps (DramaBox, ReelShort, My Drama) across 20 countries showed unusually high engagement.

Women aged 35–44 accounted for 20.8% of all micro-drama views, despite representing less than half that share of overall YouTube traffic.

Interest was even stronger among those 45–54: their micro-drama view share more than doubled their typical platform activity.

Men across all ages largely ignored the format, with engagement 2–3 times below average.

Notably, micro-drama fans are YouTube’s most active users overall, averaging 21.5 Shorts per day compared to 14.7 for typical viewers.

Ultra-short content has become a powerful hook, keeping audiences glued to the platform for hours.
