The Kyrgyz projectĀ Red PantsĀ became theĀ sensationĀ at Europe's premier series showcase, Series Mania in Lille.
The drama from Oymo and Human Films studios beat 15 rivals in the prestigious pitching section to claim the top prize of ā¬50,000.
Set in Soviet Kyrgyzstan at the end of the 1970s, the 10-episode action series centers on Aisha, an officer’s daughter who forms the first women’s gang, “Red Pants,” to avenge her father’s death and challenge the system.
