🎎 “The King’s Warden” Is Heading Toward a Historic Record
The historical epic The King’s Warden continues to rewrite the history of the South Korean box office.
Over the past weekend, the film surpassed 15 million admissions, cementing its status as the highest-grossing film of all time in the country.
Total box office revenue has now reached $99.4 million. The film, directed by Jang Hang-jun, needs only a little more to break the symbolic $100 million barrier.
With 15.6 million tickets sold, the drama already ranks third in Korean history and is rapidly approaching the result of the comedy Extreme Job (16.2 million), aiming to take second place in the all-time chart.
The main competitor to the local leader remains the Hollywood blockbuster Project Hail Mary, which earned $2.9 million over the weekend, bringing its total in Korea to $8.6 million. Rounding out the top three is a new Detective Conan anime centered on the theft of a Romanov artifact.
