🕹 Broadcasters Demand Control Over the Network
An alliance of крупнейших медиахолдингов, including BBC, RAI, and France Télévisions, with support from Sony, has approached mobile operators with an important request.
Broadcasters are calling for the implementation of open APIs (CAMARA QoD) to directly control 5G network quality during live broadcasts.
The main issue today is signal unpredictability in crowded areas. Due to network congestion, latency increases and quality drops. The introduction of standardized APIs would allow broadcasters to prioritize video streams and mission-critical data “with a single click,” making wireless transmission as reliable as cable.
The first pilot projects in the United Kingdom are scheduled for late 2026. The technology is expected to become an industry standard, enabling broadcasters worldwide to quickly deploy multi-camera productions and interactive content without relying on proprietary solutions from telecom operators.
