🎬 “Buratino” Earns Its First $250,000 in Latin America

The Russian family blockbuster Buratino has kicked off its international run with strong momentum. Since March 19, the film has been released across 10 Latin American countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia.

The project debuted on 795 screens, and by the end of its second weekend, box office revenues reached $250,000.

Keys to success in the region:

  • Leaning on “Pinocho.” For international audiences, the title was localized to the widely recognizable “Pinocho,” allowing the film to instantly align with a globally familiar brand.
  • Deep dubbing. International distributor Art Pictures Distribution took a complex approach by fully reworking the musical layer. All songs were not just translated but carefully adapted to match Spanish vocal delivery and rhythm, preserving the magic of the musical.
  • Family values. As noted by CEO Anastasia Korchagina, the film perfectly fits the region’s cultural code, where going to the movies as a family remains a key tradition.

The strong старт builds on last year’s success of The Wizard of the Emerald City, which grossed over $1 million in Latin America. Distributors are confident that Buratino can match this result. In April, the release geography will expand further: the wooden boy will speak Portuguese in Brazil and head to countries across Central America.
