⚖️ Netflix Ordered to Refund Millions of Users

A court in Rome has issued a landmark ruling: subscription price increases by Netflix between 2017 and 2024 have been declared unlawful.

The lawsuit was filed by the consumer organization Movimento Consumatori, which challenged the platform’s right to unilaterally change pricing without valid justification.

Users on premium plans may receive compensation of up to €500 if they have been continuously subscribed since 2017. For standard plans, the компенсация will amount to around €250.

The court also requires prices to be rolled back to previous levels (for example, the premium plan—from €19.99 down to €11.99).

Netflix is обязана notify all affected customers, including those who have already canceled their subscriptions.

The company intends to appeal the decision; however, a crucial legal precedent has now been set. This ruling could trigger a wave of similar lawsuits across Europe against platforms that raise prices without proper justification.
