🧠 OpenAI Moves Into the Media Business
Tech giant OpenAI has announced the acquisition of TBPN—a popular streaming show about business and technology often described as “CNBC for Gen Z.” Despite the deal, the project will retain editorial independence and continue to be published on YouTube and X.
Head of applications at OpenAI, Fidji Simo, explained that traditional PR strategies no longer work. To bring the world closer to AGI (artificial general intelligence), it is necessary to create a space for honest and constructive dialogue.
TBPN founders Jordi Hays and John Coogan will now help Sam Altman with marketing and communications.
The deal was closed just a week after OpenAI unexpectedly shut down its video generation project Sora.
The TBPN team, known for its critical stance toward the industry, said they were won over by OpenAI’s openness to feedback.
