📡 RSCC restores satellite broadcasting services

The Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) has successfully completed the relocation of the Express-AT2 satellite. As of April 8, television broadcasting services for residents in European Russia, the Urals, and Western Siberia have been fully restored.

The maneuver was necessitated by the technical failure of the Express-AT1 spacecraft in March.

Over the course of a month, the satellite traveled 62,000 km along its orbit, moving from 140° East to 56° East. As a result, 1.5 million households have regained access to satellite TV services. Currently, three major operators are already broadcasting via the updated spacecraft’s 16 transponders.

The complex relocation process, conducted at an altitude of 36,500 km, was managed by specialists from Dubna and Zheleznogorsk. Regarding the Far East region—which the satellite previously served—broadcasting continues as normal via the Express-AM5 spacecraft.
