💫 Italian plumber tops the British box office
The animated blockbuster from Universal, "The Super Mario Movie: Galactic Edition," has made a triumphant debut in theaters across the UK and Ireland.
According to Comscore, the outer-space adventure earned £14.9 million ($19.8 million) during its opening weekend, leaving its competitors far behind.
The sci-fi hit “Project Hail Mary” from Sony moved to the second spot. In its third weekend, it added $4.5 million to its total, bringing its regional earnings to $29.1 million.
Holding steady in third place is the newcomer “The Drama,” a thriller starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. The film launched with an opening result of $2.9 million.
Meanwhile, “The Magic Faraway Tree” maintains the fourth position, surpassing the $10 million milestone in total box office revenue after two weeks of release.
The Indian action film “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” continues to hold its place in the Top 10, having now grossed a total of over $5.3 million.
The second half of the month promises to be just as eventful. A wide release is expected for the romantic comedy “You, Me and Tuscany,” starring Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page. For fans of auteur cinema, Mubi is releasing Jim Jarmusch’s “Father, Mother, Sister, Brother,” featuring a star-studded cast including Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, and Tom Waits. Additionally, James McAvoy’s directorial debut—the musical drama “California Schemin’”—is set to hit theaters.
