💸 Media Giants' Content Spending Reached $210 Billion

The world's largest media and entertainment companies continue to increase their content spending. According to a KPMG report (https://kpmg.com/kpmg-us/content/dam/kpmg/pdf/2025/future-content-spend-business-models-in-media.pdf), the 12 largest players in the industry spent a record $210 billion in 2024, which is 4% more than the year before.

Top 5 Content Spenders in 2024:

▪️Comcast/NBCUniversal: $37 billion (leader, unchanged)
▪️YouTube: $32 billion
▪️Disney: $28 billion
▪️Amazon: $20 billion
▪️Netflix: $17 billion

KPMG believes the industry is far from saturation, although growth has become more selective.

Investments in sports rights continue to grow, while spending on scripted and reality shows has slowed.

Further growth will be stimulated by user-generated content (UGC) and the development of free, ad-supported streaming services (Pluto TV, Tubi).

AI will not replace, but complement and accelerate the content production process, helping leaders find a competitive advantage.
