▶️ Streaming Giants Dominate the Spanish-Language Market

Spanish-language content is experiencing a massive boom, driven by the expansion of global streaming platforms. According to a report by Ampere Analysis, streaming services accounted for approximately half of all scripted series commissions in Spain and Latin America in 2025.

Spanish has solidified its position as the second most popular language (after English) for international platforms, representing 23% of all non-English language commissions. Netflix remains the dominant player, accounting for 43% of all SVoD orders, followed by Amazon at 22%. While traditional linear TV continues to rely on long-running telenovelas, streamers are shifting their investment toward shorter formats and miniseries.

Production investment saw a 15% year-on-year increase, reaching $3.7 billion. Crime thrillers remain the most sought-after genre (32%), followed by comedies and dramas.

To further expand their libraries and bolster subscriber retention, global giants have begun actively partnering with local broadcasters, such as the collaboration between Disney+ and Spain’s RTVE.
