The Golden Globes has introduced new regulations regarding the use of neural networks in filmmaking. The use of generative AI is no longer grounds for automatic disqualification, provided one condition is met: the primacy of human creativity.
All pivotal creative decisions—including screenwriting, directing, and acting—must originate from humans. Furthermore, the committee reserves the right to request a full disclosure report detailing exactly how AI was utilized in a production.
Nominating “digital doubles” is strictly prohibited. A performance must remain fundamentally human; AI is permitted only to “support or enhance” a portrayal, and only with the explicit consent of the performer.
Rules in the podcast category have also tightened—nominees will now be selected exclusively from the Luminate Top 30 charts.
In another significant shift, international and indie films can now submit actors for individual awards even if the film itself is not in contention for Best Picture.
