🎬 "Buratino" Heads to Cannes

Art Pictures Distribution (part of National Media Group, or NMG) has announced its participation in the Marché du Film, set to take place in Cannes from May 12 to 20, 2026. The Russian distributor is bringing a slate of flagship projects to the French Riviera, specifically tailored for a global audience.

A highlight of the program will be a special screening of the new live-action adaptation of “Buratino.” The project has already demonstrated significant export potential, with distribution rights sold to over 50 countries. The Cannes presentation aims to build on this success and further expand the film’s international theatrical footprint.

During the film market, international buyers and partners will be presented with a diverse lineup of genres that blend cutting-edge technology with reimagined classic narratives:

  • Fairytale Blockbusters: “Hottabych,” “Barbara the Fair,” and “Sleeping Beauty.”
  • Drama Projects: “Alpine Ballad” and “The Abyss.”
  • Animation: “Adventures of the Baby Mammoth: Searching for Mom.” The film is produced by Bazelevs Studio and directed by Aleksandr Voytinskiy.

Svetlana Balanova, CEO of NMG, noted that the international sector remains a key strategic priority for the holding company’s development.

The Marché du Film, held alongside the Cannes Film Festival, is considered the premier platform for major media deals. Experts anticipate that the strong demand for Russian family content and animation will lead to record-breaking sales, surpassing last year’s performance.
