🐭 Disney content to vanish completely from Russian streaming platforms
Russian online cinemas will be legally permitted to stream Disney projects only until the end of 2026. According to financial reports from the major's Russian subsidiary, the company has no plans to enter into new licensing agreements within the country.
This signals a total “clearing” of streaming libraries, as even classic titles will be removed once current contracts expire.
While flagship franchises—such as Marvel, Star Wars, and Frozen—departed Russian platforms as early as 2023, certain services have continued to host older animated features like Peter Pan and Cinderella.
Legal experts emphasize that streaming services are unlikely to pivot to piracy; instead, they will remove the content immediately upon contract expiration to avoid potential fines and litigation. Nevertheless, industry analysts believe this move will have a negligible impact on viewership, as audiences have already adapted to the absence of new Disney releases over the past three years.
