📺 Rostelecom to launch smart TV manufacturing
Rostelecom plans to establish the domestic production of smart TVs. The new device lineup, featuring screen sizes ranging from 24" to 55", will operate on the Aurora TV platform equipped with a built-in AI assistant.
Content security will be powered by a proprietary DRM system developed by Electra, a subsidiary of the telecom giant.
The new television sets are completely independent of foreign software, offer native support for web applications, and broadcast federal channels without requiring any additional modules. The company aims to manufacture a pilot batch of 150,000 to 200,000 units by the end of 2026. The product lineup will target the public sector, corporate clients, and the retail market.
Over the next three years, the operator plans to capture up to 30% of new sales in the domestic market, partly by licensing its operating system to third-party television brands.
Industry experts describe the goal as highly ambitious, noting that Android and Google TV currently command over 40% of the market, while rival Russian platforms such as Yandex’s YaOS and Sber’s Salut TV are also expanding rapidly.
