⚽️ Match TV secures exclusive broadcast rights for FIFA World Cup 2026

Gazprom-Media Holding (GPMH) has acquired the broadcast rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is scheduled to kick off on June 11.

The holding company confirmed the deal, specifying that the matches will be shown exclusively across the Match family of sub-channels, including Match Premier, Match! Arena, and Match! Igra. The financial terms of the agreement and the identity of the intermediary agent have not been disclosed.

The upcoming tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be historic: for the first time, the competition will feature 48 national teams, driving the total number of matches up to 104. Due to the expanded format, the deal was finalized under a tight schedule, just a month before the opening match.

According to analysts at J’son and Partners Consulting, even in the absence of the Russian national team, the World Cup guarantees maximum audience reach for the broadcaster, remaining the premier global sporting event of the four-year cycle. Industry insiders suggest that the online cinema platform Okko may later acquire a sub-license from GPMH to stream highlights and shoulder programming.
