🤝 NMG partners with Chinese tech park for AI-driven media production transformation
National Media Group (NMG) and the Shidao Technology Park (Shenzhen, PRC) have entered into a strategic partnership agreement.
The Russian media holding company and the Chinese technology hub will jointly focus on artificial intelligence development and the transfer of cutting-edge digital solutions for the film and television industries.
The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between NMG and key Chinese Big Tech corporations. Plans include adapting and scaling Eastern AI technologies within Russia, as well as launching new digital products on the commercial market.
Neural networks for series and advertising
The first phase of the partnership will involve a pilot project deploying generative AI in video production. NMG will test Chinese AI products designed for creating short-form series (micro-dramas) and commercial advertisements. Moving forward, these tools will be jointly refined and localized to meet the specific demands and regulatory frameworks of the Russian media market.
This approach is designed to radically accelerate production pipelines and reduce costs across all stages, from content generation to subsequent monetization.
Expansion into Shenzhen
As part of the partnership, NMG plans to open an official regional representative office in mainland China. It will be located in the Pingshan District within the Shidao Technology Park—at the very heart of the Chinese AI industry. The office’s primary responsibilities will include content co-production, alongside the development of AI services tailored for advertising, media, and cinema.
Direct access to technology
The location choice for the new office is strategically sound. Shenzhen stands as China’s premier intellectual hub, hosting the headquarters of global AI giants.
“Among Shidao’s residents and partners are technology leaders such as Tencent, Volcano Engine (ByteDance’s cloud platform), Hongguo (the largest micro-series platform), and many others. Cooperating with Chinese market leaders, alongside developing our own digital solutions, will allow us to leverage global best practices to benefit the Russian media market and its consumers,” emphasized Svetlana Balanova, CEO of National Media Group.
Zhang Shibao, CEO of the Shidao Cluster, added that the tech park successfully integrates a micro-series production base, digital communities, and AI developers. According to him, this exchange of expertise will strengthen cultural and technological cooperation between Russia and China, while providing a powerful catalyst for promoting collaborative content in international markets.
