🧮 VK media services post double-digit growth

VK Company has published its unaudited financial and operating results for the first quarter of 2026. The company's total revenue increased by 6% year-on-year, reaching 37.6 billion rubles.

Adjusted EBITDA rose by 27% to 6.4 billion rubles, while the adjusted EBITDA margin expanded by 3 percentage points to 17%. Backed by these strong operational results, VK raised its full-year guidance and now expects its fiscal year 2026 EBITDA to exceed 24 billion rubles.

The core “Social Platforms and Media Content” segment generated 26.1 billion rubles in revenue, marking a 6% increase year-on-year. The segment’s EBITDA rose by 20% to 6.2 billion rubles, achieving a high margin of 24%. Media services, video streaming, and social commerce served as the primary growth drivers within the segment’s structure.

  • VKontakte: Revenue for the flagship social network grew by 8%. In Russia, its Monthly Active Users (MAU) reached 93.4 million, while Daily Active Users (DAU) hit 62.7 million. The platform continues to dominate the domestic market, providing an average monthly reach of 90% of the entire Russian internet audience.
  • VK Video: The streaming platform’s domestic MAU stood at 82.6 million. Total user watch time increased 1.6-fold compared to the same period last year. Total downloads of the standalone VK Video app surpassed 130 million, while viewership on Smart TVs surged by 62%. A key operational update contributed to improved analytics: views for long-form video are now counted after a 5-second retention threshold. Additionally, the platform launched an AI-driven storefront for personalized movie and series selections.
  • VK Clips: The short-form vertical video platform posted record-breaking engagement numbers, with average daily views climbing to 3.4 billion for the quarter and total watch time increasing by 7%.
  • VK Music: The service’s global audience reached 46 million users, with 42.4 million based in Russia. Driven by an algorithmic update to its “VK Mix” recommendation stream, the number of tracks added by users to their personal playlists skyrocketed by 103% year-on-year, while total listening time grew by 60%.

The expansion of the company’s financial metrics was driven by revenue diversification and capital structure optimization. Revenue from in-stream video advertising jumped by 28% to 2.1 billion rubles. Meanwhile, advertising revenues from enterprise clients increased by 4%, totaling 12.50 billion rubles.

In total, VK services are utilized by 97% of the Russian internet audience, and the collective daily time spent by users across the company’s platforms increased by 29% to 6.9 billion minutes per day.
