⏳ Kinopoisk Restricts User Reviews for New Releases

Kinopoisk, Russia’s leading streaming platform and major film database, has updated its policy regarding user reviews. Going forward, long-form audience reviews will not be displayed on the pages of new releases for four weeks following their official theatrical or digital premiere in Russia.

This restriction applies to all new user-submitted texts and remains in effect regardless of the film’s global release date. Meanwhile, professional film criticism will continue to be available immediately, and regular users will still retain the ability to rate films on the platform’s numerical scale.

Any user reviews written during this four-week window will not disappear; instead, they will be temporarily published exclusively on the authors’ personal profiles and will automatically appear on the specific film’s page once the month-long period expires. Kinopoisk representatives explained that the new policy was driven by the immense workload placed on moderators during major premieres, noting that the massive influx of text often fails to meet the platform’s quality standards and requires lengthy manual vetting.

Additionally, the platform announced the upcoming rollout of new technological mechanisms designed to detect and block AI-generated texts. These measures aim to protect the review ecosystem from a surge of AI spam, elevate the overall value of genuine audience opinions, and streamline the moderation process.
