▶️ Analysts Rank Popularity of Video Hosting Platforms

Russian video platforms continue to solidify their positions in 2026, emerging as the country's primary channels for content consumption. According to a study by the analytical agency TelecomDaily, Rutube has become the main beneficiary of YouTube's slowdown, with its usage share reaching 79%.

VK Video maintains a notable market presence at 66%, while YouTube’s share has contracted to 42%.

A survey of approximately 3,000 users revealed that Rutube has not only expanded its audience (up from 77% in 2025) but has also established a consistent viewing habit: 88% of respondents plan to continue using the service. For VK Video, this metric stands lower at 57%, which may be attributed to the specific nature of content consumption within the social network’s broader ecosystem.

Significant year-over-year growth was also demonstrated by Odnoklassniki Video (surging from 16% to 24%) and the Smotrim platform (rising from 5% to 9%). Meanwhile, YouTube’s metrics continue to decline: while its share stood at 72% in 2025, it has now dropped to 42%, and only 26% of those surveyed plan to watch content on the platform moving forward.

Users most frequently visit video hosting platforms for movies, TV series, music videos, and entertainment shows. Although YouTube still holds the lead in terms of interface convenience and content variety, Rutube has outpaced its competitors in the volume of exclusive Russian-language content. It was also recognized by respondents as the best accessible video service in Russia based on overall satisfaction and operational stability.
