🎥 AI Actress Tilly Norwood to Star in Feature Film
Particle 6, a studio specializing in artificial intelligence technologies, has announced that its first feature-length fiction film, titled Misaligned, has entered development.
The lead role in the project will be played by Tilly Norwood—a virtual AI actress whose debut in late 2025 triggered a wave of fierce criticism and protests from Hollywood guilds, actors, and directors.
The upcoming film is described by its creators as a comedy-drama, offering a “coming-of-age story infused with the existential chaos of artificial intelligence.” The action unfolds within the so-called “Tillyverse”—a surreal digital space hosted on cloud servers. The plot follows Tilly, a digital entity who lacks a physical body, a childhood, or personal life experiences, but possesses access to the memories and data of all humanity. The situation spirals out of control when a seductive rogue bot from the dark web convinces her to bypass her hardcoded guardrails and begin developing human desires, impulses, and ambitions.
Particle 6 emphasizes that Misaligned is being produced using a hybrid production model. The studio is enlisting traditional film and television professionals—including directors, screenwriters, and editors—to work side by side with AI specialists. The project will also feature hands-on generative tech training and mentorship programs directly built into the filmmaking process.
“Our work has proven that AI can support the creation of premium narrative cinema, but only when paired with a colossal amount of human skill, talent, taste, and time. And that is not a limitation of the technology; it is its very essence. Over the next decade, the filmmakers who succeed will be those who can translate their years of experience and storytelling instincts into these new digital tools,” said Eline van der Velden, CEO and founder of Particle 6.
Less than a year ago, van der Velden’s announcement of her intent to sign the AI model Tilly Norwood with a major talent agency sparked a massive industry scandal. The virtual talent became a symbol of the threat that living actors could be displaced by digital clones. The project’s creators deliberately capitalized on the backlash by publishing provocative posts across social media.
The new film, according to the creators, will be deeply ironic and self-aware, exploring human anxieties in the face of evolving AI. The project is currently in the early stages of development.
