📲 Microsports Emerge as the Next Evolution of Microdramas
Global sports and entertainment venture World 1 has announced the launch of "Microsports"—a new competitive sports format designed specifically for vertical smartphone viewing.
Rather than adapting traditional sports for mobile screens, the project introduces high-octane competitions where world titles are decided in under 30 seconds.
World 1’s co-founders and backing investors include 10 Olympic medalists alongside American entrepreneur Mark Cuban, Abu Dhabi-based investment firm Palms Sports, producer Jim Schwartz, and financier Dan McClory. Brett Morris assumes the role of Chief Executive Officer, with media producer Nate Thomas serving as President. Mike Weinstein, who spent 15 years directing testing operations for the NFL Combine, steps in as Head of Technical Operations.
World 1’s monetization model relies on social feed ad revenue, brand sponsorships, and content licensing, eschewing paid subscriptions or microtransactions at launch.
The inaugural athletic disciplines will feature Fastest (measuring peak sprint velocity inside a 30-foot speed chamber) and Strongest (calculating total max weight lifted in bench press and squat variations within a 30-second window). All competitions will take place inside the World 1 Arena—a mobile, modular venue designed for deployment across major indoor arenas worldwide.
The company will announce the date and location of its debut event, featuring active Olympians and emerging athletes, in the coming weeks.
