🔥 'Battle of Molodi' Set Narrowly Escapes Total Destruction in On-Set Fire
A major fire broke out on the set of Konstantin Buslov’s historical drama Battle of Molodi (Molodinskaya Bitva), located in the village of Bolshoye Kobyakovo in the Tver Region.
According to the Regional Head Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), emergency services responded to a call at approximately 9:00 PM on July 28. Flames engulfed the exterior set complex spanning roughly 2,000 square meters, destroying around 30 built structures. Responding firefighters successfully saved an additional 10 structures from the blaze. The operation involved 34 personnel and 9 emergency vehicles. No injuries or casualties were reported.
Preliminary findings by EMERCOM investigators point to non-compliance with fire safety protocols during the handling of pyrotechnics during filming. The Tver set complex had previously been utilized for other historical productions, including Furious City (Zloy Gorod) and Prince Andrew (Knyaz Andrey).
Director and producer Konstantin Buslov confirmed that principal photography for the day had already wrapped prior to the outbreak of the fire, ensuring the crew was absent and out of harm’s way. He noted that the set sustained only partial damage and that the force majeure event was officially documented through standard procedures.
Production remains on track, with filming proceeding at an alternate location in accordance with the master shooting schedule and no changes to the planned release date.
