🎦 The Odyssey Tops Russian Box Office
Unofficial releases have held the top spot in the country's cinemas for the fourth consecutive weekend. According to EAIS (Unified Federal Automated Information System) data and verified distributor figures, the shadow market segment reached 264 million rubles this past weekend.
Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster The Odyssey drove the bulk of the grey-market earnings. In its opening figures, the project outperformed the illegal debuts of The Devil Wears Prada 2 (206 million rubles) and Project Hail Mary (146 million rubles), but fell short of the opening weekend for Avatar 3 (480 million rubles).
Among official market entries, the comedy To Grandfather’s Village 2 posted the highest earnings, taking in 45.9 million rubles in its third week. Featuring Yuri Stoyanov and Fyodor Dobronravov, the project holds a cumulative box office of 312 million rubles (801,000 admissions), though it trails the pace of the original film. Meanwhile, the musical biopic Michael grossed 38.4 million rubles in its tenth weekend, bringing its total box office to 2.184 billion rubles and securing a spot among the top five highest-grossing foreign releases in Russian history.
The domestic comedy Serf 3 collected 25.8 million rubles in its eighth weekend (reaching 1.124 billion rubles and 2.368 million viewers in total), consolidating fourth place among the most attended summer releases in Russia. The horror feature Evil Dead Burn earned 22.1 million rubles in its third weekend, boosting its cumulative total to 181 million rubles.
Among the week’s new arrivals, the family comedy Old Eagle recorded the best start (16.1 million rubles, 38,800 tickets sold), launching in sixth place. Right behind in seventh stood the new romantic comedy For Love starring Ksenia Borodina (15.9 million rubles and 33,900 admissions), which trailed the February debut of Olya’s Ravioli featuring Olga Buzova (28.3 million rubles).
In the bottom half of the top ten, the sequel My Wild Friend: Coming Home brought in 14.6 million rubles (56.9 million total), the horror film Obsession grossed 11.6 million in its eleventh weekend (493 million total), and rounding out the list was the box-office longevity leader, the horror film Behind the Scenes of Reality, pushing its cumulative total to 764 million rubles over nine weeks.
