🍿 'Spider-Man' and 'The Odyssey' Tear Up the Box Office
The global box office is hitting record highs thanks to a fierce head-to-head race between two blockbuster releases. Sony Pictures' superhero spectacle Spider-Man: Brand New Day has racked up $1.67 billion in just 12 days.
International markets accounted for $1.01 billion of that total, with the domestic US market contributing $655 million.
The film became the second-fastest in history to cross the billion-dollar mark overseas, trailing only Avengers: Endgame (2019). The fourth standalone Peter Parker entry starring Tom Holland is now officially the highest-grossing release of 2026 and sits at No. 12 on the all-time highest-grossing films list. In its second weekend, the picture added $236 million overseas and $145 million in the US. Its top international markets remain China ($186.7M), the UK ($87.4M), and Mexico ($65.8M), with analysts projecting the title will ultimately top $2 billion.
Simultaneously, Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey reached $1.104 billion globally, pulling in $79 million overseas and $31.5 million domestically in its fourth weekend. The film has officially become the highest-grossing project of Nolan’s career, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises ($1.08B). Additionally, The Odyssey set an all-time IMAX format record, earning $289 million to eclipse Avatar’s long-standing benchmark ($271M).
In the family segment, Paramount’s animated feature PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie led the pack, debuting with $23 million across 30 international markets, driven by strong starts in China ($5.5M) and France ($4.5M).
