🏆 Winners Announced for the 34th "Window to Europe" Film Festival
The closing ceremony of the 34th "Window to Europe" Film Festival took place at the Vyborg Castle. The jury, chaired by Pavel Lungin, along with festival audiences, finalized the awards across the narrative, non-fiction, and animated film competitions.
The Grand Prix in the main narrative competition went to Anton Nefedov’s drama The Garden Behind Our House, which earned a cash prize of 500,000 rubles. Audience favorite honors and top position in the “Vyborg Score” section (the Armen Medvedev Prize) were awarded to Yulia Trofimova’s dramedy How to Survive Marriage. The film was also recognized with a Special Jury Prize “For a Sense of Humor,” as well as an award from VKontakte and VK Video.
Among other narrative competition laureates, special prizes were awarded to Sergey Osipyan’s The Lightest Boat in the World (“For a Poetic Adaptation of Iconic Literature”) and Vladimir Zakharenko’s On the Edge of Childhood (“For an Outstanding Debut”). Nikita Miklushov’s Times of Love received a Special Jury Mention “For Courage.”
A standout highlight of the festival was Vladislav Malakhov’s comedy-horror Dark Thoughts. The project won the Russian Producers Guild Prize (which carried an increased cash reward of 500,000 rubles this year) and topped the “Five Stars” film critics’ ranking. Vitaly Suslin was honored twice for directing and writing Urban Improvement, taking home the Festival President’s Award and the “Commonwealth of Journalists” Media Congress Award.
In the non-fiction competition, top honors went to Olesya Yepishina’s A Great Friend, while Anna Lyubimtseva’s Frictional Force was named Best Animated Film.
