🎥 Spider-Man Retains Box Office Lead in China

Sony Pictures’ blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day topped mainland China’s box office chart for the second consecutive week.

According to Artisan Gateway, the film pulled in 196.5 million yuan ($28.9 million) over the past weekend, pushing its cumulative total in the region to $185.4 million since its July 29 premiere.

Holding firm in second place was Pearl Studio’s animated feature All Wishes Come True!. Directed by Mu Zhengyang, the project added $20.4 million to its tally in its fourth weekend, driving its total earnings since July 18 past the $210.6 million mark.

Debuting in third place with $15 million was the comedy-drama Once Upon a Time in the Middle East from Dirty Monkeys and Damai Entertainment, following a strong run of preview screenings. The film tells the story of a Chinese chef and a manager who turn a restaurant into a booming Middle Eastern establishment on the eve of an armed conflict.

Fourth position went to Enlight Pictures’ animated fantasy drama To Your Island, which grossed $7.9 million during its opening three-day weekend. Rounding out the top five was Universal’s The Odyssey, earning $6.9 million in previews for a cumulative total of $7.6 million.

Mainland China’s aggregate weekend box office reached $97.3 million. Total year-to-date earnings for 2026 reached $3.57 billion—down 31.8% compared to the same period in 2025.
