🌝 "Kolobok" Tops the Russian Box Office
The spin-off of the popular fairy-tale franchise, The Last Warrior: Kolobok, led the national box office over the past weekend, grossing 246 million rubles in its opening week.
The film drew 566,000 moviegoers—the best performance among all releases this summer—allowing the project to surpass even the comedy Son of a Rich 3 (512,000 viewers) in opening audience numbers.
First-weekend earnings placed Kolobok seventh all-time for distributor Atmosphere Cinema, fitting between the two installments of Little House Elf Kuzi (271 million and 222 million rubles, respectively), while also securing the seventh-highest debut of 2026.
Among other new releases this week, the hybrid live-action/animated feature Kikoriki: Across the Universes stood out, taking in 74.9 million rubles (188,000 viewers) and beating the opening figures of the series’ previous anthology by 41.9%. Meanwhile, unofficial theatrical distribution saw a revenue drop of 15.85%, with the “grey market” estimated at 222 million rubles, driven primarily by audience interest in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
The chart’s most enduring hit remains Antoine Fuqua’s biopic Michael, which has amassed 2.232 billion rubles over eleven weeks in theaters, outperforming Avatar in late-run weekend momentum.
Total box office revenue for the top 20 films in Russia reached 659 million rubles (1.112 billion rubles including CIS countries)—a 31.2% increase over the previous weekend and up 205% compared to the same period last year.
