🔛 Sofya Mitrofanova Departs Media Holding ON Media
A executive reshuffle has taken place at ON Media, the media holding company managing the funtech businesses of MTS Group. CEO Sofya Mitrofanova is leaving the company and the broader MTS ecosystem to pursue a new career opportunity.
Effective August 14, 2026, Dmitry Smirnov, formerly the Chief Financial Officer of the media vertical, has been appointed acting CEO.
Sofya Mitrofanova had led the holding company—previously known as MTS Media—since June 2024, having previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors. Under her leadership, the consolidation of entertainment assets into a unified media vertical was completed, uniting the online cinema KION, ON Studio, the services KION Stroki and KION Music, ON Label, and the MTS Live division (including ticketing operators Ticketland and Ticketscloud, alongside the nationwide venue network MTS Live Hall). In November 2025, the company underwent a major rebranding, adopting the name ON Media.
During her tenure, the ecosystem grew to 31.2 million users across all environments, with KION’s subscriber base surpassing 10 million. The holding’s revenue for 2025 rose by 17.7% to 29 billion rubles, while OIBDA more than doubled over a two-year period. Feature films released by ON Studio earned over 4 billion rubles at the box office.
Dmitry Smirnov joined ON Media in 2025, bringing 15 years of experience across IT, telecommunications, and deep tech. His career includes roles as CFO of a business unit at Positive Technologies, head of financial planning for MTS’s telecom business, and leader of M&A transactions at MegaFon. He also headed the strategy department at Speech Technology Center (STC) during its integration into the Sber ecosystem and was involved in the early-stage development of autonomous forklift maker RoboCV.
MTS CEO Inessa Galaktionova expressed her gratitude to Sofya Mitrofanova for building a strong brand and team, noting that Dmitry Smirnov’s deep financial and technological expertise will ensure the continued scaling of the business. AFK Sistema also confirmed that the funtech vertical remains one of the corporation’s key strategic priorities.
