๐ Former "ON Media" CEO Sofya Mitrofanova Appointed Acting Rector of MGIK
Media manager and producer Sofya Mitrofanova has been appointed Acting Rector of the Moscow State Institute of Culture (MGIK), as announced by Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.
Mitrofanova succeeds Dmitry Sidorov, who was relieved of his duties following a transition to a new role.
Mitrofanova brings extensive leadership experience across major media assets and audiovisual production. She served as Chief Executive Officer of “ON Media” holding starting in June 2024, after previously chairing its board of directors from October 2023.
The appointment of a top media executive highlights a growing effort to strengthen ties between specialized higher education and the creative industries. The new head’s expertise is recognized at the highest state level: since 2024, Sofya Mitrofanova has served on the Presidential Council for Culture and Art, and in January 2026, she joined the Government Council for the Development of Domestic Cinema.
The Minister of Culture wished the new rector success in advancing the institute’s strategic priorities and training the next generation of industry professionals.
