🆓 Google TV Expands Free Streaming Offering
Google TV continues to strengthen its position in the free ad-supported streaming segment. The company has announced a substantial expansion of its Freeplay service, adding new linear channels alongside a vast on-demand content library.
The update aims to make discovering engaging programming fast and seamless.
As part of the rollout, channels such as World of Love Island, Bloomberg TV+, Yahoo! Sports Network, and The Martha Stewart Channel are now available to users. By integrating these streams directly into the Google TV interface, users can start watching the moment they turn on their device, bypassing the need to launch separate apps or navigate multiple menus.
In addition to live broadcasting, the Google TV Freeplay catalog now features more than 10,000 free movies and TV series from major Hollywood studios, including A24 and Lionsgate. This positions the service as a comprehensive hub that bridges the gap between free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels and traditional VoD offerings.
Google’s strategy focuses on establishing Freeplay as a flexible, constantly updated core of its platform. Amid fierce competition in the streaming marketplace, one-click access to free content is becoming a primary driver for audience retention. The expanded Freeplay catalog and new channel lineup are currently available to Google TV users in the US.
