🚀 RSCC to Launch Express-AMU51 and Express-AMU52 Satellites by 2030

RSCC Director General Alexey Volin announced the initiative during a working meeting with Vladislav Kuznetsov, Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

The project is designed to expand satellite infrastructure across Russia’s remote and Arctic regions. Equipped with multi-band payloads, the new satellites will meet growing demand for both high-speed internet access and high-definition (HD) television broadcasting.

Communications and broadcasting services in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug are currently supported by the Express-AM5 and Express-AMU7 spacecraft, positioned along the eastern arc of the geostationary orbit (140° E and 145° E, respectively). These satellites power over-the-air and direct-to-home broadcasting, consumer internet access, and trunk channels for local telecom operators and industrial enterprises throughout the region.

Following competitive procurement procedures, construction of four fully domestic communications satellites—Express-40, Express-AMU6, Express-AMU51, and Express-AMU52—will begin in 2026. In total, RSCC plans to build eleven new Russian spacecraft by 2030 as part of its orbital fleet modernization program.
