🥶 "The Cold" United Streaming Viewers in July
Russian online cinemas have summarized their July performance. According to BK Media, the second month of summer passed without high-profile feature film premieres; however, the series segment was marked by a unique cross-platform release and a widespread wave of rewatching previous seasons of popular franchises.
In feature films, proven hits maintained their dominance. The teen melodrama Your Heart Will Be Broken stayed in the top 10 across all streaming platforms in the ranking, topping the charts on Ivi and Wink while earning silver on Kinopoisk. The drama Kommersant, starring Alexander Petrov, showed consistent strength, rising to first place on Start and holding the top spot on both Kinopoisk and Kion. Meanwhile, the comedy Parental Home soared into the top position on Okko.
Among July’s new film releases, the most notable were the thriller The Abyss, starring Mark Eidelstein, and the family adventure Not Alone at Home 3: Graduation, featuring Milana Khametova—both entering the top 5 across multiple platforms. Interest in international titles was localized: the digital re-release of the 2011 thriller The Lincoln Lawyer hit big on Kinopoisk, while Start subscribers turned their attention to the urban fantasy Forbidden Fruit.
The main event in the series segment was the joint release of the crime thriller The Cold by Ivi, Start, and Wink. The project, starring Lyubov Aksenova, was also released on Kion, taking first place on Ivi and Start and second place on Wink and Kion. The debut triggered a surge of interest in the actress’s filmography, with the series Exes and Living the Life returning to Start’s top 10.
Platforms also recorded rising interest in detective and crime franchises. On Kinopoisk, the new season of Major (Silver Spoon) secured first place, while Premier and Ivi users actively rewatched earlier seasons of Nevsky in anticipation of its next installment. Other notable cases included the adaptation of the manga Ghost in the Shell reaching Kinopoisk’s top 5 and the thriller Chikatilo’s Trail holding first place on Okko since May.
