🏛 "The Odyssey" Retains Top Spot in South Korea for Third Consecutive Weekend

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continues to dominate the South Korean box office.

According to KOBIS data from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the epic grossed $10.6 million from 1.32 million admissions across 2,182 screens over the August 21–23, 2026 weekend, capturing 66.3% of the country’s total market share. In its third week of release, the film’s cumulative box office reached $56.8 million, pushing total viewership past 7.1 million.

Holding onto second place was Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In its fourth weekend, the superhero blockbuster pulled in $2.9 million (386,700 admissions), bringing its overall Korean haul to $61.4 million with 8.1 million tickets sold.

Rounding out the top three was the horror entry Insidious: Out of the Further, which debuted to $547,500 (71,600 viewers over three days across 678 screens). Including its opening day on August 20, the newcomer’s total stood at $706,500.

Fourth place went to the local animated musical Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone, which added $480,500 to bring its total to $5.3 million and 788,000 admissions since August 5. In fifth was the anime mystery Detective Conan the Movie: Fallen Angel of the Highway, taking $380,200 for the weekend to reach a cumulative $2.5 million.

Overall South Korean box office gross for the weekend totaled $16.1 million, sliding down from $22.3 million the previous week.
