🛰 Saudi Arabia to Boost Space Sector Investment
Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has published its Digital & Space Sustainability Report 2026, revealing that the Kingdom intends to exponentially increase funding for its space sector.
According to the regulator’s forecasts, investment in space technology is set to grow from $8.7 billion in 2024 to $31.6 billion by 2035.
In line with the global Vision 2030 agenda, the expansion of satellite infrastructure will focus heavily on addressing key environmental and socioeconomic challenges. Satellite assets are slated for active deployment in tracking climate change, managing scarce water resources, supporting agriculture, combating desertification, and providing rapid emergency response during natural disasters.
This ambitious orbital deployment builds upon the country’s advanced digital foundation:
- Network Connectivity: Internet penetration among the population has reached 99.6%, with fiber-optic lines extended to 3.9 million households.
- AI Adoption: According to the General Authority for Statistics, the share of Saudi companies using artificial intelligence rose from 20% in 2024 to 33.1% in 2025.
This technological transformation is backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). Despite spending adjustments on select megaprojects such as NEOM, the fund’s financial performance remains strong: PIF’s revenue for 2025 rose 9% to $120 billion, while net profit more than doubled to reach $17 billion. With assets under management surpassing $900 billion, the fund provides a solid foundation for the Kingdom’s long-term space and digital initiatives.
