๐ฐ NMG Secures Controlling Stake in Komsomolskaya Pravda
IZVESTIA Media Center, a subsidiary of National Media Group (NMG), has closed a deal to acquire a controlling stake in the Komsomolskaya Pravda Publishing House.
While the terms of the agreement and the exact size of the acquired equity share remain undisclosed, industry experts are already calling the merger the largest consolidation deal in the Russian print and digital media sectors in recent years.
The strategic alliance primarily aims to build a large-scale, multiplatform ecosystem for advertisers and bolster the media holding’s presence across the information landscape. Integration plans include launching joint advertising products that bridge TV, digital assets, radio broadcasting, and an extensive regional print network. Additionally, the entities intend to streamline operations and foster cross-media sharing of journalistic practices.
The deal will not involve a rebranding: the legendary Komsomolskaya Pravda name will be fully preserved. As Vladimir Tyulin, First Deputy CEO of NMG and Head of IZVESTIA Media Center, emphasized, the core priority is to carefully preserve the brand’s traditions while driving its modern evolution through the holding’s technological and production capabilities.
This acquisition significantly boosts NMG’s total audience reach. The Komsomolskaya Pravda Publishing House assets include print outlets (the daily and weekly KP newspapers, Teleprogramma magazine), Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station, and major digital portals, including kp.ru, radiokp.ru, and teleprogramma.org. The total weekly audience across the publishing house’s media assets reaches 57.2 million people, with daily traffic to its flagship website, kp.ru, exceeding 2 million users (excluding the Yandex Zen platform audience).
