💽 Blackmagic Design Releases DaVinci Resolve 21.1
Blackmagic Design has unveiled an update to its flagship editing, color correction, and post-production suite—DaVinci Resolve 21.1. The centerpiece of this release is the direct integration of neural network models, including Claude Code and ChatGPT, right into the editor's system menu.
These AI assistants can now take on routine scripting tasks, ranging from automatic media organization and render management to pipeline optimization and contextual tips for complex effects. This update strengthens DaVinci Resolve’s position as an all-in-one ecosystem, eliminating the need for post-production professionals to constantly switch between specialized software tools.
Beyond AI integration, version 21.1 introduces over 100 practical enhancements, including:
- Upgraded Photo Module: Expanded RAW profile support for the latest camera models, along with accurate previewing and automatic preservation of original aspect ratios, regardless of timeline settings.
- VFX and OpenFX Tools: A new intelligent Sky Replacement plugin and expanded compatibility with third-party effects.
- Media Management and Export: Direct inline metadata editing in the media library’s list view. Final renders now feature flexible filtering, allowing users to selectively export proxy files or only the source footage actively used on the timeline.
- Editing Optimization: New trimming modes directly in the viewer, active effect indicators on unselected clips, an expanded set of hotkeys, and an enhanced text engine.
