🛰 Dynamic Testing Begins for Yamal-501 Satellite
Dynamic testing of the engineering qualification model for the new Yamal-501 telecommunications spacecraft has commenced at Reshetnev JSC (part of Roscosmos State Corporation) in Zheleznogorsk.
The evaluations aim to verify that the design solutions comply with the stringent technical standards required for geostationary space hardware.
At the current stage, specialists at the facility have successfully completed transportation tests simulating various delivery options for transporting the hardware to the launch site. The inspections confirmed the structural integrity and operational readiness of the platform’s primary systems under transport-induced mechanical loads.
The next key phases in the production cycle will include acoustic and vibration testing:
- Evaluating system resistance to critical acoustic pressure inside the payload fairing during engine operation at liftoff;
- Simulating the mechanical vibration spectrum and buffeting exerted on the spacecraft during insertion into the target orbit.
The Yamal-501 telecommunications satellite is being developed to expand the domestic orbital communications and broadcasting constellation, as well as to ensure stable data transmission across the Russian Federation. Successful completion of qualification testing on the engineering model will grant clearance for the assembly and integration of the flight-ready unit.
