🛰 Belarus to Launch National Satellite TV Platform

Belarusian brand Belintersat is preparing for the full-scale launch of tuta TV, a national satellite television platform scheduled for commercial rollout in 2027.

The project aims to bridge the digital divide in areas where laying cable networks or expanding mobile broadband is economically unviable, such as small villages, rural communities, and holiday cottage settlements.

The platform relies on the Belintersat-1 geostationary communications satellite. While its capacity was previously dedicated to corporate clients in international markets, it is now being redirected toward the domestic retail market.

Key features of tuta TV include:

  • 100% Coverage: Satellite delivery eliminates the need for 10-meter broadcast masts and complex antenna rigs in remote locations.
  • Focus on Belarusian HD Content: The basic tier will offer the country’s major free-to-air channels in high definition, alongside popular entertainment, children’s, and sports broadcasting, as well as approved foreign channels.
  • Streamlined Channel Lineup: Curated based on regional viewership research, the lineup prioritizes a high-quality selection over hundreds of redundant channels.
  • Turnkey Infrastructure: A new Conditional Access System (CAS) is in place, the teleport has been upgraded, proprietary set-top boxes have been designed, and billing and distribution logistics are fully operational.

The project is currently undergoing final end-to-end testing of software, payment gateways, and customer support. Subscribers will only need a standard satellite dish and receiver, which can be ordered through an online portal with delivery available via postal service or retail partners.
