๐บ Paid TV Market Grows Due to Higher Tariffs and Mobile Internet Issues
The Russian paid TV market continues to grow, despite a minimal increase in the subscriber base.
According to TMT Consulting data for the second quarter of 2025, market revenue grew by 1.2%, reaching 28.3 billion rubles. The subscriber base increased by only 0.1% (to 46.5 million).
Revenue growth was primarily driven by tariff increases. The average revenue per user (ARPU) rose to 203 rubles.
A surge in fixed broadband (BBA) connections, amid mobile internet disruptions, led to an increase in the popularity of bundled offers that include IPTV.
The number of IPTV subscribers grew by 80,000 (mainly due to Rostelecom).
Interest in satellite TV also rose: Tricolor gained 17,000 subscribers thanks to a new package featuring content from online cinemas.
In contrast, the number of cable TV subscribers continues to decline (-35,000), and the combined subscriber base of local operators outside the Top 3 decreased overall.
