State privatizes Soyuzmultfilm

πŸ›’ The Soyuzmultfilm film studio has been privatized by the state. The fact of the transaction is evident from an explanatory note to the draft amendments to the 2025 budget law, which indicates an increase in revenue of 1.12 billion rubles from the sale of shares in JSC "Film Studio 'Soyuzmultfilm'".

Mikhail Burmistrov, CEO of INFOLine-Analytics, estimates the studio’s share package (including rights to the library) at no less than 1.2-1.3 billion rubles.

A representative of the film studio confirmed the privatization but declined to disclose details, citing that the transaction “contains restricted access information and is non-public.” The Ministry of Finance confirmed the sale of the shares in 2025.

The privatized asset includes buildings, land, and equipment, as well as a license to manage the rights to the Golden Collection of cartoons (over 150 titles). The Golden Collection itself remains state-owned.

Soyuzmultfilm had been on the privatization plan since 2009.
