๐ŸŽž US streamers are losing exclusivity

A report by Ampere Analysis revealed that the US streaming market is becoming less exclusive.

39% of content in the US (67,000 titles) is now available on two or more platforms (compared to only 8-13% in Europe). Furthermore, content available on three or more services has grown from 9% in 2020 to 21% in 2025.

Why is this happening?
Platforms (including AVoD) are monetizing their extensive libraries:

Prime Video’s exclusivity has dropped from 41% to 24%.

51% of the HBO Max catalog is now also available on Discovery+ (following their merger).

Content overlap between Peacock and Prime Video has grown to 35%.

Analysts believe this is a sign of market maturity. Streamers understand that subscribers are retained by original new releases, while it is more profitable to sell longer franchises elsewhere for additional revenue.
