⚖️ Bollywood takes action against Google

Bollywood stars Abhishek Bachchan and his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have gone to court to prohibit the creation and demand the removal of existing AI-generated videos on YouTube that infringe on their intellectual property rights.

However, their demand goes further: they want Google to be compelled to take measures that prevent fake videos uploaded to YouTube from training other AI platforms.

This lawsuit is the most high-profile example to date of the struggle for so-called “personality rights” in India, where there is no clear legislation in this area. The actors claim that using their likenesses in misleading or explicitly obscene content to train neural networks will lead to the further uncontrolled spread of deepfakes.

The Delhi High Court has already ordered the removal of 518 links and posts specified by the plaintiffs. The lawsuit also includes a claim for $450,000 in damages from Google and other defendants.
