🇰🇿 Russian Channels Dominate Kazakhstan's TV Market
The analytical company J'son & Partners Consulting has presented data on the paid television market in Kazakhstan.
Out of the 378 TV channels available in the country, 58% are Russian and 20% are Kazakhstani. The most popular genres are entertainment (26%), movie (15%), and educational (13%).
By the end of 2024, IPTV leads the market (48.6%) and is projected to exceed 50% in 2026. The shares of cable and satellite TV are shrinking.
It is predicted that operators will reduce the number of channels in packages for optimization purposes, as the overall growth of the Pay TV subscriber base has slowed.
Paid TV revenue is growing, reaching 57.3 billion tenge by the end of 2024. Revenue could reach up to 82 billion tenge by 2029.
The online cinema market is growing much faster: its revenue increased by 28.5% and reached 18.5 billion tenge. Experts predict that the subscription model (SVoD) in online cinemas will continue to gain momentum.
