🧠 MPA demands action to stop Sora 2 copyright infringement
Following the launch of OpenAI's new AI model, Sora 2, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) has issued a strongly worded statement, demanding that the company immediately cease copyright infringement.
Sora 2 is capable of creating realistic videos with background sounds and special effects.
While OpenAI promised to give rights holders more control over character generation “soon,” the MPA insists that the burden of responsibility for preventing piracy and infringement within the Sora 2 service lies squarely with the AI developer, not with the rights holders.
Charles Rivkin, Chairman and CEO of the MPA, stated:
“Following the release of Sora 2, videos that infringe upon the rights to our members’ films, shows, and characters have flooded OpenAI’s service and social media. The company needs to take immediate and decisive action to address this issue. The current copyright law protects the rights of creators and is applicable here.”
