🕹 Netflix Brings Games to TV Screens

The streaming service Netflix is taking a major step in developing its gaming division: for the first time, the company’s games are becoming available on televisions.

Subscribers will be able to play on Smart TVs or via streaming devices (like Roku). Their smartphone will be used as the game controller. To connect, users will need to scan a QR code on the TV screen.

All games in the initial offering, including titles like Boggle Party and Lego Party, will be free for subscribers.

According to Alain Tascan, VP of Gaming at Netflix, moving to TV allows Netflix to avoid the highly competitive mobile gaming environment and utilize the “main entertainment screen in the home.”

The company will focus on four categories: children’s games, party games, popular hits, and games based on Netflix franchises (such as Stranger Things).

Netflix is also actively investing in cloud servers to ensure a seamless gaming experience.
