🧩 Fragmentation of sports rights irritates fans

Sports content remains the most powerful magnet for streaming platforms, but the fragmentation of broadcast rights is causing increasing dissatisfaction among fans in the US.

A study by Hub Entertainment Research showed that for 72% of avid fans, sports are more important than any other content they watch.

87% of avid fans are willing to subscribe to a new service if it acquires the rights to their favorite sport. 42% have already done so.

The main problem is fragmentation. 65% of fans consider the need to use multiple services to watch games a major headache. More than half (53%) admit that finding the right match has become more difficult.

Experts warn that the reaction of sports fans to the increasingly complex access to content will be “stronger and quicker” than that of regular TV viewers.
