🎞 Movies Are Saving Streaming Services in the US

Contrary to the common belief that movies on streaming platforms are losing relevance compared to series, research by Parrot Analytics showed that film has become one of the most effective tools for subscriber retention.

An analysis of thousands of titles on Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, and HBO Max in the US revealed that movies generate a disproportionately high level of viewer engagement compared to the volume of content they represent.

While movies accounted for only 27% of total VoD revenue in 2022, this figure grew to nearly 50% by 2024.

Two-thirds of the total value (revenue) generated by films is now provided by library catalogues (older movies) and films entering streaming in the second/third window after their theatrical release.

Thus, studios have found that films are one of the most effective tools in the fight against subscriber churn.
