๐ฌ Scripted commissions fall, but Europe holds steady
Eighteen months after the start of a decline in TV channel commissions, the global content production market stands at 75% of its peak.
According to data from Ampere Analysis, the drop in new scripted content commissions during the first half of 2025 has affected nearly all regions.
Europe saw a 10% decline, North America a 6% decline, and the Middle East and Africa a massive 43% decline.
However, some major Western European markets are showing growth: Italy (+60%), Spain (+5%), and France (+3%). This is attributed to local legislation and the activity of streaming services.
The shift away from external production by streaming services has led to a redistribution of budgets. Investments are now being directed toward sports, unscripted content, and the purchase of third-party content licenses.
All of this has resulted in the market being split into two halves: the new media sector is valued at $339 billion, while the old media sector reaches $394 billion.
