🎮 Game-based anime overtakes comics in popularity

The number of announced anime adaptations based on video games has grown by 137% over the past year, surpassing comics to become the third-largest source of content for animation (trailing only manga and books).

According to an Ampere Analysis report, this is due to the strong connection between anime fans and gamers: 83% of anime enthusiasts actively play games.

The launch of an animated series can sharply increase game activity. Following the release of Devil May Cry in April 2025, the number of monthly active users for the Devil May Cry 5 game surged by 313%.

Netflix’s original anime series based on games are 40 times more popular than other original animated projects.

Franchises with rich storylines, such as Final Fantasy or Fire Emblem, are considered the most suitable for adaptations.

Experts predict further growth, especially given the expanding anime fanbase in Europe.
